Siliguri, Aug. 4 -- The West Bengal government will set up a dedicated legal team to represent the Labour Department before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in a move aimed at safeguarding the rights of tea garden workers and taking action against defaulting plantation owners, Labour Minister Arjun Singh said.

Addressing reporters after a review meeting on the tea sector in Darjeeling last evening, following his visit to the Cinchona Plantation at Mungpu, Singh said the government had found that a section of tea garden owners had failed to clear workers' statutory dues, including provident fund (PF), gratuity and other legitimate claims.
