Siliguri, June 2 -- The West Bengal government on Tuesday initiated discussions on implementing the PM Cha Shramik Yojana (PMCSY) in the tea-growing regions of Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars, with political representatives and officials meeting at Uttarkanya here to examine the modalities of the scheme and other issues concerning the tea industry.

The meeting followed recent directives from Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who had held discussions with leaders from the Hills at the North Bengal secretariat Nabanna and expressed the government's intention to implement the centrally-funded welfare scheme along lines similar to its implementation in Assam.
