New Delhi, July 29 -- The standoff between the BJP-led NDA government and the INDIA Bloc is only expected to intensify after the turn of events on Wednesday following Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi's remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah in the House during the debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
Soon after the House met after it was adjourned in the din following Gandhi's allegations, the Government moved in to get the Bill cleared even though the discussions had not concluded.
Sources say senior ministers met Shah and Speaker Om Birla, separately, after which it was decided that the Bill would be passed after a reply by union Minister Jitendra Singh.
