Kolhapur/Satara, June 17 -- Congress senior leader and former State chief minister Prithviraj Chavan today alleged that the split in the Shiv Sena(UBT) is being engineered for getting passed the Delimitation Bill in Parliament, and termed it a "black day" for democracy.
Talking with reporters in Karad town of Satara district today, Chavan severely criticized the BJP, and said, "The BJP is splitting the party. There is talk of a split in the party after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla gave a letter to six Uddhav Sena MPs.
"The central government is trying to create dominance in the north Indian states through the Delimitation Bill, i.e. the Constituency Reorganization Bill," he alleged.
