Rampur, July 18 -- Jailed Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan plea was rejected by the special court in the case of calling an official a "Tankahiya" during an election rally during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The MP-MLA Special Court (Sessions Trial) dismissed Azam Khan's appeal against the two-year sentence given by a lower court.
The court on Saturday upheld the lower court's decision, upholding the sentence and fine.
The case dates back to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when during the election campaign, Azam Khan made controversial remarks about officials from the stage at a public meeting held in Mankara village under Bhot Thana area.
