Dehradun, Sept. 1 -- A special census drive for 131 snow-bound villages and 3 urban local bodies of Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri in four districts of Uttarakhand took off today.

Census team was specially trained for nearly a month to conduct exercise in snow-bound hills of the Himalayan state.

Census department officials informed that elaborate preparations have been made for successful conduct of the census operations in all snow-bound areas of Uttarakhand under Census of India.

According to a statement issued by Census department stated that 182 field experts, including 139 enumerators and 43 supervisors, were trained for this special drive. It read that special exercise will be carried out across 131 identified snow-bound village...
