Chandigarh, May 30 -- While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dominated Punjab's civic body elections across much of the state, Abohar emerged as a notable exception. In a political landscape largely painted in AAP's colours, the border city handed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) one of its biggest urban victories, raising important questions about local political trends and the party's prospects in Punjab.
The BJP secured 28 of the 50 seats in the Abohar Municipal Corporation, comfortably crossing the majority mark, while the ruling AAP finished with 20 seats.
