Madrid, Aug. 8 -- Spain has enacted temporary border controls on all air and sea travel from Italy, escalating a dispute between the two EU countries over migration issues following the arrival of tens of thousands of migrants in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta.
The measures came into effect at midnight local time and will remain in place for one month, a week after Italy introduced similar restrictions on arrivals from Spain following the influx of around 78,000 migrants from Morocco into Ceuta.
Spanish officials said checks would be conducted randomly, with documents of around 5 per cent-10 pc of passengers being examined before they are allowed to disembark. However, passengers have reported that checks were applied more widely on some ro...
