Lucknow, May 24 -- After a five-month legal battle in Lucknow, Lalit Tiwari of the Samajwadi Party (SP) was sworn in as a councilor from Faizullaganj Third Ward on Sunday.
Mayor Sushma Kharwal administered the oath of office and secrecy to him. This is the first time in the history of the Municipal Corporation that someone has been sworn in on a court order.
This case concerns the Faizullaganj Third Ward. BJP's Pradeep Shukla Tinku emerged victorious. The second-place vote difference between the two was approximately 1,700. After the election, Lalit Tiwari filed a lawsuit in court, alleging that the BJP's Pradeep Shukla had provided false information about his marriage in the affidavit.
