Chennai, May 16 -- Southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of southeast Arabian Sea, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, many parts of Andaman Sea, entire Nicobar Islands and some parts of Andaman Islands including Sri Vijaya Puram on Saturday, much ahead of schedule.
Met office said during the past two days there has been widespread rainfall activity over Nicobar Islands and adjoining areas of Andaman Islands. The strength of westerlies over the region has increased and is around 35 kmph gusting up to 45 kmph and extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level.
