Kochi, March 9 -- South Indian Bank has emerged as a strong example of women's empowerment in India's banking sector, with women constituting more than 46 percent of its total workforce and playing an increasing role in leadership positions across the organisation.

According to the bank, women employees number 4,250 out of the total workforce of 9,216, accounting for 46.09 percent of its staff strength. This is significantly higher than the estimated 25-30 percent average participation of women in India's financial services sector.

The bank has also been steadily expanding women's representation in leadership roles, with around 30 percent of senior executive positions, including Senior General Managers, currently held by women.
