New Delhi, July 21 -- Activist and education reform campaigner Sonam Wangchuk remained under close medical observation at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday, with doctors reporting that his vital parameters were stable but cautioning that several clinical indicators continued to require intensive monitoring as he persisted with his indefinite hunger strike.
According to the latest health bulletin issued by the hospital, Wangchuk's blood sugar levels continue to remain below normal. Laboratory tests also showed a serum potassium level of 3.2 mEq/L, while he continues to suffer from persistent pancytopenia, a condition marked by anaemia and reduced white blood cell counts.
