Windhoek, March 31 -- Cricket Namibia has confirmed that all-rounder Johannes Jonathan Smit will captain the national side at the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series, to be held from April 2 to 12 here.
Namibia will host Oman and Scotland in the One Day International (ODI) series, a key qualification pathway for the World Cup. Smit, who has been serving as vice-captain, will step into the role as long-time skipper Gerhard Erasmus takes a break from captaincy duties.
"I just want to go out there and enjoy my cricket, and I hope this rest can unlock my highest potential. My tactical input will still be available, and I'll be there to support the team," Smitsaid.
