Chennai, March 9 -- A 15-year-old Class 10 student died after a fire broke out in his house due at Orampedu village near the northern suburb of Minjur in neighbouring Tiruvallur district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Srinivasan, son of Munusamy.
Srinivasan was fast asleep when the fire broke out allegedly due to an electric short circuit and engulfed the house.
His parents were not present in the house when the tragedy took place.
Neighbours who noticed the fire tried to douse it by pouring water. However, the house was gutted and collapsed, trapping the boy inside. Srinivasan suffered serious burns and died on the spot.
