Srinagar, April 6 -- An Assistant Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding at SKUAST-Kashmir Dr Shabir H Wani, has been conferred the prestigious Dr Norman E. Borlaug Award 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to genetics and plant breeding, particularly his work in advancing wheat improvement for food and nutritional security.
A spokesperson of the University said that Dr Wani, who is posted at MRCFC Khudwani, SKUAST-Kashmir received the award during the 13th International Conference on Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry & Allied Sciences for a Sustainable Himalayan Ecosystem, organized by HFRI Shimla recently.
