Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1 -- Seeking implementation of a favourable Orissa High Court direction, the State Senior Journalists' Association, Odisha (SJAO), has stepped up its demand for a pension scheme for retired journalists and urged the State Government to initiate the process without further delay.

A delegation of the Association met Information & Public Relations Director Sanjay Kumar Biswal on Monday and reiterated its demand for social security measures for senior and retired journalists.

The delegation sought early action on the proposed pension scheme, pointing out that more than 19 States have reportedly introduced pension schemes or similar financial assistance for retired media professionals.
