Shimla, May 11 -- Six people, including five tourists from Gujarat, were killed and four others injured after a tourist vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district in the early hours of Monday.

The accident occurred near Kakira on the Lahru-Tunnuhatti road in Bhattiyat subdivision when a Toyota Innova carrying 10 occupants skidded off the road and fell into a nearly 300-metre-deep gorge.

According to police, the tourists were travelling from Manali to Dalhousie when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve. Heavy rainfall in the area is also suspected to have contributed to the mishap.
