Nagpur, July 18 -- : Six deer were killed after being hit by a speeding train near Kanhan railway station in Nagpur district early on Saturday, highlighting growing concerns over wildlife safety along railway tracks passing through forested areas, officials said.
The incident occurred between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. near Tukaram Nagar when a herd of deer was crossing the railway track. All six animals died on the spot after being struck by the train.
Forest department officials rushed to the spot after receiving information and conducted a panchnama before initiating further action.
The exact species of the deer, the train involved, and the precise cause of the accident are yet to be officially confirmed.
