New Delhi, June 8 -- In a solemn tribute to India's fallen heroes, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conferred posthumous gallantry awards on six personnel, who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation, during Phase I of the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2026 held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The posthumous awardees included Sepoy Janjal Pravin Prabhakar of the Mahar Regiment attached to 1 Rashtriya Rifles and Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari of the Army Service Corps attached to 1 Sikkim Scouts, who were awarded the Kirti Chakra (Posthumous); Sub-Inspector Mohd Imteyaj, Constable Deepak Chingakham, and Rifleman Sunil Kumar of 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, who received the Vir Chakra (Posthumous); and Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand of...
