Kolkata, May 31 -- Police have arrested six persons in connection with the attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee during his visit to Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas on Saturday.
According to police sources, the accused were identified through video footage collected from the area.
The arrests were made by Sonarpur Police Station after it registered a suo motu case in connection with the incident.
No formal written complaint has yet been lodged either by Banerjee or by the Trinamool Congress.
Banerjee had travelled to Sonarpur to visit the family of a TMC worker who was allegedly killed in post-poll violence.
