Ayodhya, July 7 -- A preliminary investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has found prima facie evidence of theft and embezzlement during the counting of offerings at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, with CCTV footage showing staff allegedly concealing bundles and loose currency notes.
The report, made public on Tuesday, said irregularities appeared to have occurred even before April 27, but the extent of the alleged loss could not be determined due to the absence of CCTV footage from that period.
The SIT is expected to submit its final report by July 22, when the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to hold its next meeting.
