Hyderabad, June 19 -- Telangana BJP State President N Ramchander Rao on Friday said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is a constitutional exercise undertaken by the Election Commission of India to update and clean voter lists and is not a BJP programme.

Addressing a workshop of BJP karyakartas at Nagole for the Ranga Reddy Urban District, he said SIR has been conducted 11 times since Independence, with the last exercise held in 2002.

He alleged that Congress, BRS and AIMIM were spreading misinformation by claiming that Muslim votes would be deleted.
