Singareni to recruit women dumper operators for first time in its history

Hyderabad, May 14 -- In a first in its 13-decade history, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has initiated preparations to recruit women as heavy dumper operators in its open-cast mines, following directives from the Telangana government to promote women's empowerment.

The initiative was launched following instructions from Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu to create greater opportunities for women in challenging roles within the organisation.

Singareni uses heavy dumpers with capacities ranging from 60 to 100 tonnes to transport coal and overburden in its open-cast mines. For nearly five decades, these vehicles have been operated exclusively by men due to the physicall...
