Singapore, May 29 -- PV Sindhu's Singapore Badminton Open 2026 campaign came to an end on Friday after the Indian lost to world No. 1 and reigning Olympic champion An Se-young of the Republic of Korea in the women's singles quarter-finals.
A two-time Olympic medallist, Sindhu lost the match 21-17, 21-14, extending her losing streak against An Se-young to nine matches.
Sindhu, world No. 12, has managed to take a game off the Korean only once during that run, at the 2023 BadmintonAsia Championships.
Sindhu was level at 7-7 in the opening game before An Se-young, who has lost just one of her 32 matches this year, pulled away to establish a five-point cushion.
