Siliguri, July 18 -- union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturdaysaid the Siliguri Corridor, which had become "a gateway forinfiltration" under previous governments, is now emerging as a symbolof a secure border.
In a Facebook post, Shah said he inspected the surveillancearrangements at the Border Security Force's (BSF) 18th BattalionBorder Outpost (BOP) at Jumagach in North Bengal from a watchtower.
He said the Narendra Modi government has not only increased the numberof watchtowers along the international border but has also equippedthem with state-of-the-art technology to make border security strongerand more impregnable.
The Home Minister made the remarks after visiting the border area aspart of his north Bengal tour.
