Siliguri, Feb. 26 -- Economic empowerment of tribal communities will take centre stage at the ninth Conference of the International Santhal Council (ISC), scheduled to be held in Siliguri on March 7 and 8, with President Droupadi Murmu gracing the event.
Alongside economic growth, the conference will also focus on the preservation and recognition of tribal language and culture - two pillars considered vital for the identity and progress of indigenous communities.
Addressing a press meet at the Siliguri Journalists' Club on Wednesday, ISC working president Naresh Kumar Murmu said the two-day conference aims to bring together a wide spectrum of voices from within the tribal community.
