Bengaluru, Sept. 13 -- Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has turned the caste survey into a fresh political challenge for Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, pressing for implementation of the report at a time when the ruling party is seeking to balance competing community interests.

Siddaramaiah's renewed campaign for implementation of the Socio-Economic and Educational Survey has gained significance following his exit from the Chief Minister's post, placing the issue squarely before the Shivakumar government.
