Bengaluru, July 26 -- More than 60 Congress MLAs are vying for around 20 Cabinet berths as the party high command prepares to take the final call on Karnataka's long-awaited Cabinet expansion, with Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah backing competing sets of aspirants in a high-stakes exercise that could reshape the party's internal power equations.
The Congress leadership is expected to finalise the list of new ministers at a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, where Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah are likely to present their respective choices before Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders.
