Bengaluru, April 28 -- Amid the ongoing leadership tussle within the Karnataka Congress, former Minister and MLA K. N. Rajanna on Tuesday said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is ready to step down if directed by party leader Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking to reporters here, Rajanna, a close associate of Siddaramaiah, said there is growing confusion within the party over a possible leadership change.

He noted that while the Chief Minister is willing to continue in office, he is equally prepared to relinquish his position if the party high command so decides.

The remarks come amid heightened political activity, with senior Ministers Satish Jarkiholi and H. C. Mahadevappa reportedly in New Delhi seeking clarity on the leadership issue.
