Bengaluru, June 3 -- Karnataka's outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been appointed as a member of the Congress Working Committee, the All India Congress Committee announced on Wednesday, ahead of the swearing-in of Chief Minister-designate D K Shivakumar.

In an official communication, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal said the appointment was approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and would take immediate effect.

The organisational reshuffle comes amid significant political developments in Karnataka following Siddaramaiah's resignation as Chief Minister, paving the way for Shivakumar to assume office as part of the Congress leadership transition in the state.
