Bengaluru, June 30 -- Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday consoled Chikkaballapur MLA Pradeep Eshwar after the latter broke down while narrating the alleged attack and abuse he faced during the recent Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations.

According to an official statement, Eshwar met Siddaramaiah and recounted that workers of the BJP and JD(S) allegedly hurled slippers at him and abused him as well as his family during the event. The MLA became emotional while describing the incident.

Siddaramaiah comforted the legislator and told him that such incidents were not uncommon in politics and should be faced with courage. He assured Eshwar of the government's full support and advised him not to lose heart.
