Davangere, March 23 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday sought to calm rising resentment among minority communities after the Congress party's decision to nominate Samarth Mallikarjun Shamanur for the upcoming Davangere South by-election to the Assembly sparked widespread protests.

Addressing the media here, Siddaramaiah said the party will work to mitigate the discontent among minorities and expressed full confidence in winning the by-election.
