Bengaluru, July 18 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge at the latter's residence here, with the high-level interaction assuming political significance amid intense consultations within the Congress over cabinet expansion, organisational restructuring and preparations for the upcoming urban local body elections.

The meeting comes at a time when the Congress high command is closely reviewing political developments in Karnataka following the party's victory in the recent Legislative Council elections and ahead of the crucial civic polls expected later this year.
