Bengaluru, May 3 -- A fresh political row has erupted in Karnataka after BJP leader and Legislative Council LoP Chalavadi Narayanaswamy lashed out at Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar over his remarks on the Sringeri Assembly recount, accusing him of "insulting the judiciary" and fuelling a "vote theft narrative" after the verdict.

The controversy follows the completion of the court-supervised recount process in Sringeri, which has already triggered sharp exchanges between the Congress and BJP. The recount has apparently reduced the number of votes polled by the Congress candidate T D rajegowda thereby resulting in the sitting Congress MLA losing the seat by a margin of 52 votes.
