Bengaluru, July 14 -- The controversy over the proposed Bidadi township project has intensified into a political showdown in Karnataka, with Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday accusing the BJP and JD(S) of exploiting the issue for political gains and misleading farmers.
Shivakumar alleged that the opposition parties were attempting to portray a development initiative as an anti-farmer move despite the government's commitment to safeguarding the interests of landowners affected by the project.
"The BJP and JD(S) are politicising the issue. They are trying to create confusion among farmers for political reasons," Shivakumar said, asserting that the government would ensure justice for farmers while taking forward the township project.
