Mumbai, July 8 -- Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) corporator Ramesh Mhatre and three others were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attacking two doctors and hospital staff at a civic hospital in adjoining Thane district earlier this week.
The action came after a video of the incident went viral on social media, drawing strong criticism from doctors and the public. State Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar has strongly criticised the alleged attack.
However, Mhatre has denied the allegations, saying he did not assault the woman doctor and claimed the video did not show the complete sequence of events. Police said the investigation is continuing and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
