Panchkula, June 16 -- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident in which a group of Sikh pilgrims from Haryana was allegedly forced to return from the Attari border while travelling to Pakistan to pay obeisance on the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev.

A delegation of the party, led by Haryana Shiromani Akali Dal President Harkesh Singh Mohri, submitted a memorandum addressed to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini through the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula on Monday.

The party sought an investigation into the circumstances that led to the pilgrims being turned back and called for accountability to be fixed for the alleged lapse.
