Shimla, May 4 -- In line with the Himachal Pradesh government's vision to make the state a green state by 2027, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday flagged off 10 electric waste collection vehicles for the Municipal Corporation (MC) Shimla, marking the city as the first urban local body (ULB) in the state to initiate conversion of its waste management fleet to electric mode.

The vehicles were flagged off from the Himachal Pradesh State Secretariat as part of a phased plan to shift towards e-mobility in municipal services.

The Chief Minister said trial runs of the vehicles were conducted between November 10 and 14, 2025, during which they performed successfully across Shimla's challenging terrain.
