Shimla, May 2 -- The Shimla district police has suspended an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) after a viral video surfaced allegedly showing the officer assaulting, a person after an argument for violating traffic-related directionsShimla Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Singh taking serious cognisance of the incident said on Saturday that swift action was taken in accordance with its "zero tolerance" policy.
The ASI has been placed under suspension with immediate effect to facilitate a fair and impartial inquiry, he added.
He further stated that appropriate departmental disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the officer concerned, and strict action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
