Chandigarh, July 14 -- Ahead of the launch of India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train from Haryana on Friday, State Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said the country must rapidly transition to alternative sources of energy as conventional fossil fuels are gradually depleting.

Speaking to reporters, Vij said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will launch the country's first hydrogen train from Jind on July 17, has been consistently promoting clean and sustainable energy sources, including solar, wind and hydrogen energy, to secure India's long-term energy future.
