Sydney, March 17 -- Neither NSW nor Western Australia could send their departing coach out a winner, settling for a tense Sheffield Shield draw that went down to the final over at Cricket Central.
The Blues led by 272 runs when they declared at 8-373 in their second innings on Tuesday's fourth day, but narrowly ran out of time to skittle their visitors despite a late flurry of wickets.
Western Australia finished at 9-139 in their second dig, withstanding a nervy collapse of 3-4 in the final hour and then a ninth wicket that fell with the fourth-last ball of the day.
The visitors were 134 shy of their target when Joel Davies (2-30) bowled the final delivery of the Shield's regular season.
