Dharamshala, March 24 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and ex-Union Minister Shanta Kumar on Monday sharply criticized the state budget, claiming that such a budget has never been presented in the state's history.
He said that budgets should mobilize new resources for development, while also generating funds through reduction in government expenditure. However, he alleged that no such meaningful effort was visible in the current budget.
Highlighting the hydropower sector, Kumar said that Himachal Pradesh has several ongoing power projects and many more can be initiated. Referring to his tenure, he noted that the policy of royalty in hydropower projects introduced during his time is generating revenue worth crores for the state.
