Dharmshala, March 25 -- Former Chief Minister Minister Shanta Kumar has expressed serious concern over the growing menace of drugs in Himachal Pradesh, stating that the problem is escalating with each passing day and is adversely affecting the younger generation.

He said that Himachal, often referred to as "Dev Bhoomi," is witnessing an alarming rise in drug abuse, which is destroying the youth. Expressing concern over recent reports, he noted that even some police personnel have been found involved in drug-related activities, with four officials reportedly dismissed from service. He further highlighted that 66 people have lost their lives due to drug overdoses in the past three years.
