Kolkata, July 30 -- BJP MP Shamik Bhattacharya has urged West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to take immediate steps to secure a major chemical park under the Centre's newly approved Rs 3,030-crore BHAVYA Rasayan scheme, describing it as a landmark opportunity to accelerate industrialisation in the state.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Bhattacharya wrote that the state should move swiftly to submit a strong proposal to the union government before other states stake their claim.
He also suggested four potential locations for the proposed chemical park-Singur, Haldia, Raghunathpur, and Durgapur-adding that Singur could be considered if land-related disputes do not arise.
