Jalna, April 1 -- A devastating road accident near Jalna in Maharashtra on Wednesday, left seven women engaged in highway maintenance work dead and three others critically injured after a speeding truck rammed into their vehicle.

The incident took place around 6 pm in the Jamner-Kadvanchi stretch on the Samruddhi Expressway, police said.

According to preliminary information, the workers had completed their cleaning duties on the expressway and were seated in their vehicle parked along the roadside when a truck heading towards Mumbai crashed into them at high speed.
