Bengaluru, July 17 -- A fishing trawler from Malpe capsized off the Surathkal coast in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, but all seven fishermen on board were rescued safely by local fishermen, officials said.
The incident occurred near Doddakopla beach when the trawler overturned in the sea. The seven fishermen, all natives of Tamil Nadu, were rescued by nearby fishermen who noticed the boat in distress and brought them safely ashore. No casualties were reported.
The Indian Coast Guard rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and launched an inquiry into the cause of the mishap. Officials are examining whether rough sea conditions or a technical fault led to the boat capsizing.
