Giridih, June 12 -- : Police have arrested seven members of a family in connection with the murder of a couple in Jharkhand's Giridih district, claiming that a land dispute and suspicion of witchcraft were the motives behind the crime.

The victims, identified as Patiya Hansda and his wife Parsani Devi, were allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons at Dalanchakri Tola Tiriltand under Madhuban police station limits on the night of June 2-3. Both later succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Giridih Superintendent of Police Bimal Kumar said a special investigation team headed by Dumri SDPO Abid Khan was constituted to probe the case.
