Hyderabad, Aug. 9 -- Senior citizens in Hyderabad lost Rs 102.02 crore in 403 cybercrime cases registered during the 19 months from January 2025 to July 31, 2026, with trading frauds and digital arrest scams accounting for the bulk of the financial losses, according to Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police.
Among the victims were a 75-year-old retired government employee, who lost Rs 96 lakh after being lured into a fake foreign exchange trading scheme, and a 70-year-old retired gazetted officer, who was allegedly duped of Rs 85 lakh by a fraudster posing as a Mumbai police officer and threatening him with arrest in a fabricated money-laundering case, the police said in a release here on Sunday.
