Hyderabad, May 26 -- Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C V Anand on Tuesday announced that senior Maoist leader Pasunuri Narahari alias Viswanath, a Central Committee member and Secretary of the Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee, along with his wife Medari Danamma alias Latha alias Poonam, surrendered before the Telangana Police, describing it as another major setback to the Maoist movement.
Addressing a press conference at the DGP office, Anand said the Centre and State governments have intensified efforts over the last few years to eradicate Maoism through surrender and rehabilitation policies, encounters, and seizure of weapons.
