Barisal, Sept. 12 -- A senior Hindu journalist was found dead inside the Barisal bureau office of Bangladeshi newspaper Samakal on Friday evening, amid growing concerns being voiced over the safety of minorities and journalists alike in the country due to increasing suppression.
The body of 57-year-old Pulak Chatterjee, a former Barisal bureau chief of Samakal, was found hanging inside the newspaper's office, according to local media reports.
Al Mamun-ul Islam, officer-in-charge of Barisal Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed the death and said the exact cause would be known after an autopsy. "The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report," he said.
